Just for future reference, in case anyone was thinking of writing something set in New York:

1. Cabdrivers are not chauffeurs. They will not get out of the vehicle to open the door for you. Not even if you're Nick Carter.

2. If you hand your cabdriver a crumpled ball of twenties and tell him to run into Starbucks and buy you a latte, you're likely to get punched. Even if you're Nick Carter.

Likewise, no matter who you are or which boyband you are/were in, if you have a house in Florida? IT DOES NOT HAVE A BASEMENT. If it had a basement, it'd be called "indoor, lower-level swimming pool".

I can't tell you how much that bugs me. Florida, technically, sits *below* sea level. They don't build basements there. Period.
