-- Well, the good news is I look great in a face mask. Dare I say? Hot, even. I guess it's no surprise. My eyes are my best feature; everything below that is kind of a letdown. I should've thought of this years ago.

-- This made me cackle.

-- As usual, I am my own worst enemy and the urge to consume apocalypse-related media is growing stronger by the day. Specifically, Nopseud's Apopalypse epic. I'm tempted. Boy, am I tempted. And when I do give in, as is inevitable, you can bet I'll come sucking back here all shaken and mopey and expect everyone to calm and coddle me. (Not that y'all are under any obligation to actually do any of that stuff. Hit me with that tough love. It's what I deserve.)

-- (And now I'm having a conniption fit thinking about that one BoS chapter where Chris and JC sneak into the plague village to rescue Joey's baby! Nooooo!)

-- Also...Last Man on Earth, of all things. Does anyone else remember that show? It got canceled a couple of years ago, I think. Mary Steenburgen was in it and it wasn't so much funny as it was, like, quirky? I liked it well enough at the time, but I know rewatching it now will be a Bad Scene, man. (And yet!!)

-- I keep getting startled by the seven o'clock nurse clap. Not because I'm not used to the concept by now, but because I never know what time it is, ever. So every evening I hear very loud wolf whistling and jump out of my skin, like, "What?? Huh?? What?? It's 7pm?? Already??" That's fun.

-- Losing Adam Schlesinger was hard. Losing John Prine has been hard. A little harder, actually, if only 'cos it's made my mom sad. Apparently they had a little bit of a flirtation-thing going on in the seventies?? (Yeah. She got around back then. I have Stories. Stories with a Capital 'S'.)

-- (They're not mine to share, and now's not the time anyway, but -- one day. I might do it one day. Because I am a whore for attention -- every day.)

-- (She says he was a total sweetheart, just in case anyone was worried. Like, almost ridiculously sweet for a professional rock n' roll guy. I believe it.)

-- Speaking of my mom, tomorrow's her birthday! And I feel awful about it! We're very much 'let's celebrate with experiences' people rather than 'hands you a wrapped gift with a bow on it' people and I don't know where I would've taken her this weekend, but I promise you it would've been better than, well. *gestures at everything*

-- She was born on a Good Friday, actually, and this morning, we were joking that her three horrible sisters were probably born on Shithead Thursday, Lemon-faced Wednesday, and Sad Trombone Noise Tuesday, respectively. (You'd laugh if you knew them, but that's okay; I'm laughing enough for all of us.)

-- Welp. Have a good Good Friday, everyone. And/or a joyful Pesach! I'm gonna taper off with this timely, melodramatic af aria:

I've always wanted to hear this sung by a female soprano. John Legend isn't really cutting it for me, though I do appreciate his scrunchy little pain faces from the live version.

-- I was going to add something from Prince of Egypt too, just for symmetry, but there's not a single song on that soundtrack that doesn't make me weepy, and just -- no. Not tonight, Moses.

Re: being your own worst enemy by reading stuff that upsets you and then asking for coddling--uh, bb, you're basically putting yourself in the emotional throes of a h/c fic and if that's your thing, that's your thing! I dunno about deserve, but if it gives you catharsis, I'm happy to calm and coddle you after you've indulged in the tragic!media.

Your mom sounds AWESOME and I'm sorry she isn't going to get the birthday she's used to. Booooooo.

Do you know if that NBC JC Superstar is streaming anywhere? That production was fuckin' incredible.

First, happy belated birthday to your mom. She sounds like one heck of a woman.

Now you've made me want to reread Nopseud's fic and wallow in all the postapocness. Maybe jump ahead and read the scene of Chris getting shot first. As you do. Well, I do.

I started to watch Last Men on Earth but got distracted by other things and didn't finish the first season. Is it worth going back to?
