February Festival - Day One

It isn't midnight yet! I'm not too late!

pensnest has proposed a rec challenge for the month of February (at popsoundboard) and I've decided to take a stab at it - despite my fear of commitment, my seeming inability to finish anything I start, and my general lousiness at this sort of thing. Will I remember to post every day? Unlikely, but I intend to make a valiant effort!

So behold: recs!

Day 1 - Great opening

JC decides to find himself a boyfriend. Hilarity ensues.

This is some great JC characterization right here; he's a silly, scattered sexual dynamo. And it just gets better from there. He manages to work his way through his bandmates one by one - fickle Joey, sadistic Lance and clingy Justin - before the right man finds him instead. (As always, a TrickC ending is the surest way to my heart.)

Thank you, and now I've read it... and I have to be honest here. I'm kind of making faces in your direction, because I'm fairly certain you're 100% to blame for my slow slide back toward an interest in popslash.

Like, I haven't cared about it in YEARS. Then YOU come along, and all innocent-like, and BAM, here I am READING IT AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS. I don't know whether to laugh, or cry, here!

Seriously though, if you're crying I hope they're tears of joy! Popslash is a beautiful thing. It's easily the smartest, most creative fandom I've ever been a part of. Don't fight it! Just let it envelop you!

I have NOT read the Lava Lamp story. But I've heard...things. I'm a little intimidated, actually. I can tell there's a lot of backstory there.

I don't think I've ever read this story -- or if I have, I've forgotten, which is almost the same thing -- so I'm looking forward to getting into it later tonight. I have a weakness for this kind of GSF, where one person blazes a trail through the rest of the band.

I almost didn't go for it! I was a little afraid I'd do a terrible job...but finally I just said "to hell with it!" and decided to let the popslash love flow!

GSFs make the world go 'round. :) And I love the way popslash seems almost uniquely well-suited to them!

I'm a big fan of Lance the Innocent and Awkward, but once in awhile Sadistic Lance can be a nice change of pace. :)

In response to what you said about the GSF...I love it too. Sometimes I like it hard and fast and raunchy, but I like it when someone makes their way through the group...like in my Hat story. *loves on Hatted!JC*
