Apr. 27th, 2015 05:53 amAh, springtime: when the cherry tree on the corner starts sprouting fuzzy little pink deathbombs and I wake up every morning struggling and straining underneath the weight of my own eyeballs. A season of beauty and joy, to be sure.
Okay, here's my grand, sweeping statement for the day: berries and daffodils and chirpy birds and fluffy newborn lambs are nice and all, but they're not worth the ten week sinus punch that comes along with 'em. I'm sorry, but they're not! Terrible trade-off. Just terrible.
My mother loves to talk about the day I was born and how, right after the nurse wiped the gunk off me and all the requisite congrats had been given, the doctor shuffled on up, squinted hard at my face, laughed, and said "oh man, this kid's gonna be allergic to EVERYTHING!" Now, Dr. Greenstein and I did not go on to form the tightest of bonds -- which may or may not have had something to do with the sheer amount of needles he ended up sticking me with over the next ten years or so -- but to this day I'm still convinced he was at least part wizard. How did he know?

That tree wants me dead. I know it.

Date: 2015-04-30 11:42 am (UTC)They are a little better than they were when I was a kid. I can be around dogs and cats now, I can eat dairy and citrus fruits and pretty much anything else I want -- all of that was literally unthinkable for me before the age of eleven or so. (I mean -- dairy!!)
But I don't think I'll be skipping through any flowery meadows anytime soon. :)
