brandywine28While waiting on line to vote just now, the man behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked, cheerfully -- cheerfully! -- "You a big Trump fan?" Amazingly, I did not vomit on his shoes, but I did tell him in no uncertain terms that no, no I am not.
"That's a shame," he said. "He's a genius, you know. So am I. And if you were one, you'd be voting for him, too." Pretty much the only thing in my head at this point were expletives, but I didn't even get a chance to let any out, 'cos he went on to tell me how intelligent and accomplished he is, and that he's a mathematics professor at a very reputable college. "Oh, yeah?" I asked, feigning interest*. "Which college?"
Welp. He couldn't tell me which college. Instead, he hesitated for an incredibly painful 15-20 seconds, mouth opening and closing like a dying fish. Then he changed the subject. Which, yeah, seems about right.
I just -- ugh. The idea that anyone could ever look at me and think "Republican" makes me want to hurl myself off a cliff.
