Welp.

My building's going co-op. I have to move.

I have to move soon, 'cos I guess it turns out that pushing out all your renters with less than a month's notice is...not illegal, somehow? Supremely shitty, oh yes, no arguments there. But not illegal.

*hulks out, gives a primal yell, rips a fire hydrant out of the pavement and hurls it through a store window*

*un-hulks*

It's not that I'm so attached to my apartment. It's really nothing special, I know that. My living room window has one of the worst views you could ask for: some other dude's living room window. And he's not even cute.

Also, my toilet is maroon. MAROON. I mean, what even is that? And why? And -- huh?

It's the neighborhood I like, really. And my proximity to...things. Plus the fact that I've dug myself into a nice, comfy rut here. It's a good rut. Maybe even a great rut.

I hate this.

I keep saying "It'll be OK" out loud to myself, even though I'm starting to get on my own nerves. I can't seem to stop.

Don't you have a lease? Your state laws may differ, but in Missouri, you have to give one week's notice for a week to week lease and a month's notice for month to month leases. But I'd think if you have a lease until a certain date, you shouldn't have to leave until that date.

I hope you find something better nearby!

Oh, man, don't make me talk about the details! The details make my blood boil!

But, yeah, one of my neighbors is a lawyer, and way smarter than me, and according to her...they're allowed to do this. AMAZINGLY. (The landlord here is apparently crazy litigious, and drags you to housing court if you so much as LOOK AT HIM cross-eyed; but I've always taken great pains not to piss him off, so I guess I kinda just...fooled myself into thinking I was safe?

Blech. Anyway. Thanks for the well wishes! I hope so, too!

An upgrade may be more than I can reasonably hope for on such short notice, but I definitely wouldn't turn one down!

But if there's one benefit to not living closer, it's that I get to maintain my mysterious allure. Which is a huge priority for me, as you well know. *flips hair, accidentally knocks over lamp* :)
