It's raining buckets, I forgot to send out Christmas cards for the millionth year in a row, and I got "ma'am"ed by two different retail clerks today. (No. NO.)

Also, I've had not one but TWO showtunes ('Satsified' from Hamilton and 'The Trolley Song' from Meet Me in St. Louis) stuck in my head all day, and now they're starting to do that thing where they sort of flow into each other and intersect in a way that's really messing with my mind.

But - it's Christmas Eve Eve! And the house is full of cake and wine! (And - ugh - song.) Therefore, I'm content. :)

Not the *Ma'am*! I get that, too. I prefer *Miss*. I'm not wearing a wedding ring, so I am fine with *Miss*, but usually, *Ma'am* it is. Or can't they just say "excuse me"? *sigh*

Isn't this PopSlash SeSa Go Live day? I remember that being the 24th. I run a NCIS SeSa that goes live on the 25th because there used to be a long running holiday challenge that ran Dec 1-24 and I didn't want to overlap an existing challenge. They didn't run it this year. I considered moving mine up, but honestly, I always have someone struggling to get the final touches done, especially if there is a drop out/pinch hitter situation.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Honestly, I'd even prefer "hey, you" or something.

Ugh. I know, I know, it's not supposed to be an insult! They tell me that in the South, every female who's past puberty gets called "ma'am"; it's a mark of...courtesy, I guess? But I must be about as Southern as a hot pastrami on rye, 'cos whenever anyone says it to me, all I hear is "YOU LOOK OLD." :(

Yep, Sesa's LIVE! I haven't gotten a chance to read my story yet, but I'm PUMPED. Woo!

Happy...*checks watch*...Boxing Day? *facepalm*

I'm sure it's *usually* meant as a politeness, but more often taken by many as "old lady". I don't think management will let employees get by with "Hey you", but really, they could just say excuse me, and leave the Ma'am or Sir off, especially since many women seem to be offended by ma'am.

The only time I got ma'am'ed was at a very posh silver service restaurant dad used to take us to. I'm very glad it's not in more common usage!

Hope the holidays were great for you.

I'd like to pin it on the difference between my 'hood and yours, but what do I know? Maybe you're just cuter and younger-looking than me. :)

They weren't half bad, actually! Hope yours were even better!
