brandywine28I signed up for mtyg. For the first time. When I haven't written anything much longer than a memo in recent memory. But it's not like I'm nervous or anything! (chuckles awkwardly, averts eyes)
My love of popslash comes with a long, torrid backstory. Well, not so much torrid: I fairly binged on it from around late '05 through '08, all without writing any of my own. (I'm easily intimidated!) Then, when I saw NKOTBSB perform at the Times Square ball drop thingy this past New Years Eve the flame of my passion was relit. I began rereading all my old favorites (a list that's veeerry heavy on the trickc; some thing never change) and it only got worse when I saw the band again over the summer when they were doing the Today show, an incident made memorable by my nearly blinding half a dozen tourists with my elbow trying to get Nick Carter to notice me. (He didn't.) Oh, and I kind-of-sort-of-but-not-really met AJ in September while he was doing some promotional thing for Fashion Night Out. He put his right hand on my left shoulder for a fraction of a second and I giggled like a hyena for the next three hours.
So consider me officially re-enamored.
I always look forward to mtyg, but along with the popslashy goodness comes the inevitable twinge of guilt at not having contributed anything myself. Guilt is something I'm great at. And it's a pretty excellent motivator, it turns out. It got me to sign up. With jubilation. I'm not a passive succubus after all! Hallelujah!
I'm genuinely looking forward to it! Then again I haven't gotten my assignment yet. God help me if it involves Kevin.
